Blue Access for Producers

Reminder: Advocate Physician Groups Join BlueAdvantageSM HMO Network on Feb. 1, 2011

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is pleased to announce that as of Feb. 1, 2011, Advocate physician groups have joined the BlueAdvantage HMO network. BlueAdvantage HMO members are now able to select a primary care physician (PCP) and Woman's Principal Health Care Provider (WPHCP), if applicable, when they enroll in one of the Advocate medical groups.

Also, this network change gives BlueAdvantage HMO members the opportunity to select Advocate physician groups affiliated with the following hospitals: Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Condell Hospital, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Advocate Trinity Hospital, and West Suburban Hospital and Medical Center. Advocate physician groups already contract with the HMO Illinois provider network.

The BlueAdvantage HMO contracting provider network is a subset of the network offered to HMO Illinois members, with a smaller - but still broad - contracting health care provider network. Tailored for members who prefer a more affordable health care plan, BlueAdvantage HMO premiums are typically less than HMO Illinois premiums.

For employer groups looking for strategies to make their health care benefits budget more economical, BlueAdvantage HMO offers a cost-effective alternative that can also help their employees manage their health care budget.

Locating Advocate Providers

Beginning mid-February, BlueAdvantage HMO members are able to use the BCBSIL Provider Finder® to find contracting Advocate hospitals and medical groups. These providers can also be located via the Provider Finder tool when searching the PPO and HMO Illinois provider networks.
